Dr. Mark Dekutoski’s appointed positions

January 15, 2017
Although Dr. Mark Dekutoski has spent the majority of his time since 1993 incredibly immersed in the surgical needs of his patients, he has also utilized his additional time as wisely as possible to remaining needs of his medical field, his workplace and his fellow staff. From 1993 to 2013, Dekutoski served in a variety of increasingly responsible and challenging roles with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, primarily working within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and aiding the institution’s College of Medicine and Division of Orthopedic Spine Surgery, in addition to administrative duties. However, during this time, he also accepted various appointments at the organization, including Senior Associate Consultant of the Division of Adult Reconstruction for three years early in his tenure and both Instructor and Associate Professor -- at different times -- for the clinic’s College of Medicine.

Additional major appointments outside the clinic and region occurred during this renowned surgeon’s career as well. Mark Dekutoski served as a principle mentor to orthopedic and neurological trainees in complex spine surgery in addition to developing key pioneering trauma techniques in the surgical field. He has served as Chairman of the Mayo Clinic Medical School Orthopedic curriculum and Chair of the Scoliosis Research Society and AOSpine North America Educational committees. His appointments also include presentations at more than 300 Continuing Medical Education lecture events.
